Engine Hood Insulation

The original insulation on the engine hood was already worn and frayed. It was decided to replace it with a new one. Instead of buying expensive original insulation, an alternative solution was chosen. A roll of foam plastic with aluminum on one side and strong adhesive on the other side was purchased. This roll is sold in a one-meter width, and about 3 square meters were needed to cover the entire engine hood. The foam is 10mm thick and is meant to reduce engine noise and protect the paint on the hood. Additionally, adhesive aluminum tape was purchased to seal the edges of the foam from water entry and provide a clean, neat appearance for the installation. All the parts were purchased from Yargum in Petah Tikva.

The rubber that holds the hood rod had already deteriorated and was replaced with a new rubber piece that was 3D printed using flexible TPE material. The print model was taken from thingiverse.com.
