Power Installation
A 25 mm² power cable was laid from the battery, through a 60A maxi fuse, to the bottom area
of the passenger seat. This cable is connected to an isolated power splitter, made by
Autorewire, which includes a fuse for each output. From the splitter, cables were laid to the 4
following consumers:
- Car computer.
- Screen.
- 12V splitter for standard cigarette lighter sockets.
- Communication device from Maxtrac.
In the dismantling yard, there is plastic covering the entire underside of the passenger seat. The fuse board was installed on this cover using an aluminum mount. A hole was also cut in the cover, allowing easy access to the fuse board. The cover also protects the front panel of the computer, ensuring that a careless foot won't damage the cables connected to it. A small crack in the cover was fixed using a superior mixture of fast-drying glue mixed with baking soda, which creates a stronger composition than the original plastic material.
Computer Installation
The computer was anchored to the car floor using a bent aluminum bar, which was mounted to existing screws in the car. The computer sits on rubber mounts, which serve as shock absorbers, and is protected by foam at the back. Its top and the fan opening on its side remain exposed to help with heat dissipation.
The computer was installed so that its front, which contains all the connections, faces the front of the car, allowing easy access without the need to remove the seat. The power splitter was also installed with easy access to fuse replacement.
The computer receives power from a relay, which is activated by a factory Land Rover switch. The switch, originally for activating the rear wiper, is positioned in an upright orientation and resembles a hard drive
, and was installed in a location near the driver for easy activation and deactivation.
Operating System Installation
The chosen operating system is Windows XP SP3 Tablet Edition. A stable, reliable system that can be modified to utilize the relatively weak computer. For those interested in these customizations, websites

Programs like Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, and Windows Media Player were removed from the operating system, along with other modifications. Other programs, which do not consume large amounts of memory, replace them. At the end of the process, the Windows folder is reduced to about 400MB, and the initial memory consumption is about 50MB.
Antenna Installation
A galvanized metal plate was installed on the car's roof rack, painted black, and antennas for WiFi, Maxtrac, and GPS were mounted on it using magnetic bases. The cables were threaded through a protective tube, routed through the A-pillar, and under the carpet. No cable is exposed, so they are protected from being pulled or torn by a careless foot.
The external WiFi antenna provides a high-quality internet connection. This makes it easy to connect to Outlook, download/update the cache for the mapping engine, and more. Remote control of the car computer from a home computer for updates and map/software installations is also simple.
Screen Installation
For the screen installation, the central console was dismantled. A ball mount base from
RAM was installed near the transfer lever, with an aluminum reinforcement plate underneath. Another advantage of this screen is that it has a mounting array compatible with the
VESA standard, so a compatible mount was bought from RAM
mount and attached to another ball. Both balls are connected by a

Due to the desire to complete the project in time for the upcoming trips, the plan to install the screen
inside the console was postponed. This would require cutting the console and rebuilding it from fiberglass. This plan also necessitates giving up the car's radio-disk. An example of such an installation can be seen

Camera Installation
The camera was painted matte black to avoid attracting attention and installed at the rear of the roof rack. It receives power from a relay, activated by the reverse light circuit. An RCA cable was run from it directly to the screen (not through the computer).
Since the screen automatically turns on when receiving video, as soon as the car is put in reverse, the reverse light will turn on, activating the camera and the screen. Exiting reverse will turn off both the camera and the screen. This hands-free operation is simple and doesn't require turning on the computer. Of course, this setup eliminates the need for infrared LED lights, so I'll wait until the camera breaks, is stolen, or sold, and then replace it with a miniaturized camera without LEDs.
